Farhan Akram is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pathology & Clinical Bioinformatics, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam. His research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to enhance diagnostic and prognostic capabilities in pathology through advanced analysis of histopathological images.
He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rovira i Virgili University in 2017, graduating cum laude under Prof. Domenec Puig and Dr. Miguel Angel Garcia. His postdoctoral work spans A*STAR (Singapore), Khalifa University (UAE), and industry roles at Mil-kin Inc. (Tokyo, Japan).
- Research Focus: AI-driven 3D pathology, cancer prognostication, molecular subtyping, and kidney transplant rejection prediction.
- Techniques: Deep learning, image segmentation, computational pathology, and histomorphological classification.
