Farhad Peerally

Farhad Peerally is an Associate Professor in the Social Science Applied to Healthcare Research Group (SAPPHIRE) at the University of Leicester and Honorary Consultant Gastroenterologist at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He divides his time equally between academic research/education and clinical gastroenterology practice specializing in inflammatory bowel disease and Barrett’s esophagus.

His research portfolio encompasses:

• Patient safety systems and organizational learning from adverse events
• Mixed-methods studies of endoscopy quality and early cancer management
• Clinical trials in inflammatory bowel disease therapeutics

Educational innovations include developing simulation-based training from safety incidents and virtual gastroenterology learning communities. He received the British Society of Gastroenterology's Alistair McIntyre Prize for transforming gastroenterology training and leads the patient safety module in Leicester's Masters in Quality and Safety in Healthcare program.
