Fanghui Zhao

Fanghui Zhao is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program within Seattle University's College of Education. Her research centers on two primary domains: cross-cultural counseling processes/outcomes and developing Multicultural Social Justice Counseling Competencies (MSJCC) in counselor trainees.

Her scholarship aims to enhance mental healthcare accessibility for marginalized populations, particularly racial/ethnic minority clients. With clinical experience across college counseling centers, community clinics, and career services, she specializes in young adult mental health.

Her recent publications focus on teletherapy effectiveness, counseling assessment validation across diverse populations, and international student mental health. Research consistently addresses cultural competence, measurement equity, and therapeutic interventions for underrepresented groups.
