Faisal Kaleem

Faisal Kaleem serves as a Professor in the Computer Science and Cybersecurity Department at Metropolitan State University, where he has been instrumental since joining in 2014. He directs MNCyber—a statewide initiative advancing Minnesota's cybersecurity leadership through education and public/private partnerships—and co-founded the Minnesota Cyber Career Consortium (MNC3) to address workforce gaps.

Dr. Kaleem's research pioneers Augmented Reality applications for identifying cybersecurity learner characteristics while addressing AR privacy vulnerabilities. His work extends to mobile device security, forensic curriculum development, and malware attribution, directly shaping the university's BS in Cybersecurity and MS in Cyber Operations degree programs through courses like Ethical Hacking and Mobile Device Forensics.

He has received extensive recognition including University-wide Teaching Excellence Awards, the Minnesota State Board of Trustees Outstanding Educator Award, and the MN Cybersecurity Summit's Visionary Academic Leader Award.

As faculty advisor for the Cybersecurity and Forensics Students Organization (CFSO) and mentor for the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) team, he integrates students into NSF/NSA-funded research. His establishment of the MN Cyber Range provides a critical training platform for realistic incident response scenarios and vulnerability research across Minnesota's cybersecurity ecosystem.
