Faisal Ahmed is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Wellesley College. Prior to academia, he worked at the White House Council of Economic Advisers and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago.
Research Interests: His work focuses on the intersection of political economy and international systems, including international economics, political violence, development, and migration. Recent projects explore political connections and globalization, geopolitics, and the political economy of bureaucrats.
Publications: Authored two books: The Perils of International Capital (Cambridge, 2020) and Conquests and Rents: A Political Economy of Dictatorship and Violence in Muslim Societies (Cambridge, 2023). His research appears in journals like the American Political Science Review and American Economic Journal – Macroeconomics.
Teaching: Offers courses on International Political Economy (POL3251/POL3251H) and the Political Economy of Foreign Aid (POL3294/POL3294H), emphasizing causal inference methods and interdisciplinary approaches.
