Fabrizio Messina, born in 1979, is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Catania since March 2020. He has held academic positions since 2006, including Ph.D. student (2006-2009), Postdoc (2009-2017), Assistant Professor (2018-2020), and Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (2020-present). He collaborates with the Robotics Laboratory led by Prof. Santoro.

His research focuses on Swarm Intelligence, trust/reputation models for large-scale systems, Grid/Cloud Computing, and Multi-Agent Systems. He has supervised Ph.D. students and contributed to editorial roles as Managing Editor for the International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing and Associate Editor for journals like IEEE Access.
Notable activities include:
- Local Principal Investigator for the T-Ladies project (PRIN 2020)
- Co-organizer of the European Agent Systems Summer School (EASS 2016)
He teaches foundational courses like "Programming 1" and has served on program committees for international conferences.
