Fabio Giglietto is a Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences, Humanities and International Studies at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo. He teaches core courses including Digital Social Network Analysis, Generative AI and the Media, and Internet Studies across multiple degree programs such as Informatics and Digital Innovation, Philosophy of Information, and Advertising and Organizations Communication.
His research centers on Internet Studies with emphasis on social network structures, digital media ecosystems, and misinformation dynamics. Giglietto investigates coordinated inauthentic behavior, narrative diffusion in disinformation campaigns, and content moderation systems across platforms like YouTube and TikTok. His work increasingly addresses generative AI's impact on media landscapes and political discourse.
Giglietto serves as principal investigator for the MINE project (mine.uniurb.it) and leads Work Package 4 at VERA AI (veraai.eu), focusing on ethical AI frameworks. He developed CoorNet (coornet.org) for detecting coordinated online behavior. As moderator of aoir.social—the Association of Internet Researchers' Mastodon server—he actively curates academic discourse on digital communication trends and methodological challenges in social media research.
