Fabienne TATIN-FROUX is an Assistant Professor at the University of Franche-Comté, affiliated with the Chrono-environment UMR 6249 CNRS research unit. Her work focuses on phytoremediation, environmental engineering, and soil science, particularly addressing trace element dynamics and plant adaptation to contaminated environments. She leads the ECOPOLIS project (2020–2024), transforming urban wastelands into sustainable ecological living labs through phytomanagement. Her research integrates remote sensing (e.g., UAV imaging) with laboratory experiments to assess plant responses to environmental stressors.
Key areas of expertise include mercury and manganese uptake in poplar and birch species, organic amendments for soil remediation, and waterlogging stress in oak species. She holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Nancy 1 (2002), with a thesis on hydraulic characteristics of Mediterranean conifers. Her interdisciplinary approach spans plant physiology, radioecology, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Recent work emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, including contributions to the PHYTOCHEM initiative for biomass valorization. Her publications span journals like Journal of Hazardous Materials and Ecological Engineering, reflecting a focus on practical solutions for contaminated land rehabilitation and ecological restoration.
