Professor Fabienne Brilot-Turville is a Professor of Neuroimmunology and Principal Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's School of Medical Sciences, based in the Brain and Mind Centre. She leads the Brain Autoimmunity Group within the Kids Neuroscience Centre at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. Her research focuses on autoantibodies in immune-mediated brain disorders, particularly myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody-associated diseases. She also directs the Brain Autoantibody Testing Referral Centre for diagnostic testing.
Her Honours in Medical Sciences was completed at Westmead. Research interests include autoimmune demyelination, movement disorders, and pediatric neuroimmunology. Notable projects include studying MOG antibodies' role in relapse mechanisms and developing diagnostic assays for neurological autoimmune conditions.
Recent research highlights include investigations into MOG antibody pathogenesis, SARS-CoV-2 immune responses, and complement activation in autoimmune neurology. Her work spans clinical outcomes in 4699 MOGAD patients and therapeutic strategies for pediatric demyelination.
Brilot-Turville collaborates internationally, contributing to diagnostic criteria development for MOGAD and advancing understanding of autoimmune CNS disorders' immunopathogenesis.
