Fabian Zimmer

Dr. Fabian Zimmer is a historian specializing in environmental history, knowledge history, and technology history. He is currently a Research Associate at the Department of History of Technology within the Institute for Philosophy, History of Literature, Science and Technology at Technical University of Berlin.

Education:

• BA in History and German Studies, Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg (2013)

His research focuses on the discourse and knowledge history of technology acceptance, the history of comfort, and the history of human needs. He authored the book Hydroelectric Projections: An Emotional History of Hydropower in Industrial Film (Wallstein, 2022), which examines hydropower through the lens of industrial film analysis.
