Dr. Ezzat G. Bakhoum is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of West Florida, affiliated with the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. (1994), M.S. (1989), and B.S. (1986) in Electrical Engineering from Duke University and Ain Shams University, Egypt, respectively. With 13 years of industrial experience—including seven years in engineering management—he has contributed to fields such as digital signature verification for credit cards, static dischargers, and ultracapacitors for electric vehicles. His research spans sensors (including meat spoilage detection and miniature dew point sensors), communication systems, nanotechnology (e.g., laser-activated gold nanoparticles), and energy storage.
He has authored 44 peer-reviewed journal articles and a book, Micro and Nano-Scale Sensors and Transducers, and reviews for IEEE publications including Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement and Sensors Journal. His teaching includes courses like Communication Systems & Components and Electromagnetic Fields & Applications I. Notably, he holds 10 patents, reflecting innovations in applied electrical engineering.
