Eyup Kun is a Doctoral Researcher at the Center for IT and IP Law at KU Leuven since February 2021. He is a Turkish-qualified lawyer (since 2019) and holds an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in Information Technology, Media, and Communications Law (2020). His doctoral research focuses on cybersecurity and data protection law in the digital economy, contributing to the EU Horizon 2020-funded ENSURESEC project.

Research Interests: Investigates legal frameworks governing data protection, cybersecurity, and fundamental rights in digital contexts. Specializes in facial recognition technologies' regulatory challenges, as evidenced by his work on Council of Europe guidelines adopted in 2021. Engages with interdisciplinary issues at the intersection of technology law and policy.
Professional Experience: Served as a trainee in the Data Protection Unit at the Council of Europe (2020–2021), where he contributed to drafting guidelines on facial recognition systems. Currently affiliated with the ENSURESEC consortium, addressing cybersecurity risks in critical infrastructure.
Labs/Teams: Active in the KU Leuven Center for IT and IP Law, collaborating on EU-funded initiatives to harmonize digital governance frameworks.
