Eyal Zisser

Prof. Eyal Zisser is Vice Rector of Tel Aviv University and holder of the Yona and Dina Ettinger Chair in Contemporary History of the Middle East. He previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities (2010-2015), Director of the Moshe Dayan Center (2007-2010), and Head of the Department of Middle Eastern and African History (2004-2008).

Prof. Zisser specializes in modern Syrian and Lebanese history, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and inter-Arab politics. He has authored nine books and over 100 articles, and has presented at nearly 70 international academic conferences. His work explores themes like Syrian regime dynamics, Hezbollah's regional role, and constitutional debates in the Middle East.

His recent research focuses on the Syrian civil war, the Arab Spring's impact on Middle Eastern states, and the ideological roots of radical Islam. He has advised over 20 PhD students and served on the editorial board of Bustan, a leading academic journal on Middle Eastern studies.
