Eyad H. Abed is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, affiliated with the Institute for Systems Research (ISR). He has held leadership roles, including Director of ISR (2002–2008) and Dean of the College of Information Technology at UAE University (2009–2012). His research focuses on control theory, electric power systems, and complex networks. He has been a Program Director at NSF (2014–2017) and is an IEEE Fellow (2001).
Education:

- M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, UC Berkeley (1981, 1982)
Research Interests: System and control theory, electric power dynamics, aerospace control, nonlinear dynamics, bifurcation control, and complex networks (communication/social).
Key Contributions: Developed bifurcation control approaches, guardian map stability analysis, and modal participation theory. Applied control theory to power systems, internet protocols, and aerospace systems.
