Ewa Roszkowska

Dr. Ewa Roszkowska is a Professor at the Academy of Physical Education in Kraków, specializing in the history of tourism and mountaineering. She holds a Habilitated Doctorate in Humanities and a PhD in Physical Education Sciences. Her research focuses on the socio-cultural and political dimensions of mountain climbing and skiing, particularly in Poland and Europe during the 20th century. She has authored influential monographs and numerous articles, including works recognized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Research Interests: Her work explores the historical development of alpinism, the socio-cultural context of mountaineering organizations, and the role of women in climbing. She also investigates the ideological and institutional aspects of mountain tourism, with a focus on Polish and European history. Recent projects include studies on Polish Himalayan expeditions and the legacy of female climbers.

Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles and two major monographs, including European Alpinism 1919–1939 and Polish Tatra Mountaineering until 1914. Her work bridges historical analysis with cultural studies, emphasizing the interplay between sport, politics, and identity.
