Evyn Kropf

Evyn Kropf is a Senior Associate Librarian at the University of Michigan, specializing in Middle Eastern & North African Studies and Religious Studies. She curates the Islamic Manuscripts Collection at the Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) and teaches about Islamic manuscript culture.

• Education: MA in Information Science (University of Michigan, 2009), BS in Materials Science and Engineering (University of Tennessee, 2003)

Her research focuses on Arabic palaeography, codicology, and material culture, particularly paper analysis, manuscript repairs, and Sufi knowledge transmission. She has cataloged over 900 Islamic manuscripts and led workshops on manuscript studies.

Notable publications explore Ottoman paper trade, pictograms in Sufi literature, and digital mediation of cultural heritage. She is active in manuscript cataloging and collaborative research initiatives.

Kropf is affiliated with the Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies (CMENAS) and the Global Islamic Studies Center. She contributes to Islamic manuscript digitization and trains in Arabic manuscript analysis.
