Professor Dr. Tilman Seidensticker is Senior Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Hamburg's Seminar für Orientalistik and member of the Cluster of Excellence 'Understanding Written Artefacts'. As spokesperson for the Working Group 'Facing New Technologies' and project lead for 'The Last Decades of Arabic Manuscript Culture', his research examines Arabic manuscript traditions.
Research Focus: Specializes in Arabic manuscript culture, cataloguing methodologies, and historical transmission of Islamic texts. Work integrates traditional codicology with computational approaches for handwriting analysis and provenance research.
