Evren Ozselcuk is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina’s McCausland College of Arts and Sciences, affiliated with the Department of English Language and Literature and the Film and Media Studies Program. Their research intersects transnational cultural studies, critical border studies, and postcolonial theory with a focus on Turkish cinema and literature.
Research interests include:
- Global media aesthetics
- Border narratives and securitization
- Turkish and Middle Eastern cinemas
- Psychoanalytic and critical theory applications
- Postcolonial center-margin dynamics
Current projects analyze border-crossing representations in diverse media forms, exploring intersections of gender, race, and more-than-human worlds. Publications include the monograph The Provincial and The Postcolonial in Cultural Texts from Late Modern Turkey (2022) and contributions to Film as World Literature (forthcoming 2025).
