Evert Zinzen is a Professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel within the College of Movement and Sport Sciences, Department of Movement and Nutrition for Health and Performance. He holds additional administrative roles including Rector, Vice Rector, and Department Chair. His expertise includes occupational health interventions, sports trainer competencies, and ethical considerations in sports. He earned a PhD in Motoric Revalidation and Physiotherapy from VUB in 1998, focusing on musculoskeletal epidemiology in nurses.
Research interests span health intervention programs, burnout prevention in educators, and virtual reality applications in sports. Over 200+ publications include seminal work on teacher burnout and exercise benefits. He leads projects like the Erasmus+ eSports initiative (#ENHANCE) and virtual reality sports programs (VIBES). Awards include the Prijs KINE 2000 (1990) and Silver Medal Scientific Award (1996).
Active in over 170 academic activities (2024), including international workshops and policy advisory roles. Supervised 119 research works and contributed datasets on burnout in teachers. Media engagements highlight his work on exercise's role in mental health resilience.
