Everett Schlawin is an Assistant Research Professor at Steward Observatory, University of Arizona. He is affiliated with the Infrared Group and Steward Observatory Radio Astronomy Laboratory, focusing on exoplanet atmospheres and infrared astronomy. His research involves observational studies of transiting planetary systems using ground and space telescopes.
His work explores exoplanet atmospheric composition through transmission spectra, analyzing how light wavelengths reveal chemical processes in planets beyond our solar system. He also develops educational tools like the transit lightcurve simulator for public engagement.
Everett participates in outreach programs such as the MESCIT tutoring program and NSF OIR Lab's Teen Astronomy Cafe Team, creating interactive resources to explain planetary science concepts like exoplanet transit lightcurves and atmospheric modeling with sliders.
