Even Teistung is a Research Fellow and PhD candidate at the University of Oslo within the Faculty of Humanities, specializing in General Literary Studies. He holds an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Oslo (2018). His research focuses on German literature’s engagement with themes of borders, homelessness, and identity, particularly through the works of W.G. Sebald and Jenny Erpenbeck. His academic roles include serving as a literary critic for Klassekampen (since 2019) and former editor of BLA - Bokvennen Litterær Avis (2019–2022).
Key research interests include literary genre hybrids, travelogues, fragment forms, and the intersection of literature with political and historical discourse. His PhD project analyzes how Sebald and Erpenbeck represent flight and displacement through narrative structures, reflecting on German national identity amid historical ruptures like the Holocaust and East German collapse.
Teistung’s publications include articles in Passage and Norsk Litteraturvitenskapelig Tidsskrift, examining themes such as national borders in Erpenbeck’s works and Walter Benjamin’s conceptual frameworks. He is affiliated with research groups like Aesthetics and Politics and Border Readings.
