Evelyn Uuemaa is a Professor of Geoinformatics at the University of Tartu's Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences, where she also served as Head of the Department of Geography (2020–2023). Her research focuses on geospatial data management, environmental modeling, and remote sensing applications. She holds a Doctorate in Landscape Ecology and Environmental Protection (2007) and has extensive experience in EU-funded projects, including Marie Curie fellowships.
Uuemaa's work emphasizes machine learning for environmental spatial data and integrates remote sensing with socio-economic analysis. She leads the Landscape Geoinformatics Lab and contributes to national sustainability initiatives, such as Estonia's ecosystem service valuation projects. Her teaching includes geoinformatics fundamentals, spatial analysis, and Python/R geoprocessing.
