Eve Tuck is a Professor of Indigenous Studies at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She also serves as the founding director of NYU’s Provostial Center for Indigenous Studies (Center CIRCL). Tuck is Unangax̂ and an enrolled member of the Aleut Community of St. Paul Island, Alaska. Her work centers Indigenous social thought to advance decolonization, equitable social policies, and meaningful social movements. She previously held the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Methodologies with Youth and Communities at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).
Her research focuses on collaborative Indigenous research, land education, and Indigenous feminisms, with a commitment to ethical, community-driven methodologies. Tuck has led initiatives such as the Tkaronto CIRCLE Lab, now The Visiting Lab, which produces resources like the Collaborative Indigenous Research Digital Garden and the Land Education Dreambook (2022). She co-hosts the podcast The Henceforward, exploring Indigenous and Black solidarity in North America.
Tuck’s accolades include a Spencer Foundation Mentor Award (2022), the Mike Charleston Award (2023), and an honorary doctorate from Emily Carr University (2021). Her work critiques colonial structures while advocating for transformative, land-centered educational practices.
