Evan Suma Rosenberg is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. Their research focuses on virtual reality (VR) and human-computer interaction (HCI), specifically exploring immersive technologies, 3D user interfaces, and spatial interaction techniques. Rosenberg leads the Illusioneering Lab, which investigates innovative applications of VR, including embodied perspective-taking, social interaction, and educational simulations.
Current research projects include NSF-funded initiatives on:
- REU Site: Human-Centered Computing for Social Good (2024-2027)
- Trust and Feedback Intervention Theories for Algorithmic Behavioral Change
- VR-based Physical Distancing Compliance during the pandemic
- Simulator Sickness Detection in VR environments
Key collaborations include work with Laura Yarosh (University of Minnesota) and Richard Landers (Twin Cities). Rosenberg has supervised Ph.D. graduates like Fei Wu (2022) and Jerald Thomas (2021). The ACM VRST 2020 Best Paper Award recognizes their contributions to VR research.
