Evan Skillman is a Professor of Astronomy at the University of Minnesota and Director of the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics (MIfA). He works in the School of Physics and Astronomy and maintains an office in Tate Hall.
- Born in Rochester, NY
- BA in Physics from Cornell University
- Ph.D. in Astronomy from University of Washington
As a multiwavelength observer of extragalactic objects, he focuses on nearby galaxies, particularly dwarf galaxies, studying their interstellar medium, stellar populations, chemical abundances, and dark matter content. His research spans observational astrophysics, galaxy evolution, and cosmology.
His students have received notable honors including NASA Graduate Student Fellowships, UMN Dissertation Fellowships, and Hubble Fellowships.
