Evan Kidd

Evan Kidd is a Professor of Psychology at The Australian National University and a Senior Investigator and Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute (MPI). His career includes roles as a postdoctoral research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester (2005-2012), and a Charles La Trobe Research Fellow at La Trobe University (2008-2011). He holds a BBSc(Hons) (2000) and PhD in Psycholinguistics (2004) from La Trobe University.

His research focuses on language acquisition and use, including syntax, individual differences in first/second language acquisition, neurocognitive mechanisms (e.g., memory, statistical learning), and socio-cognitive processes like symbolic play. He has studied languages such as English, German, Italian, Finnish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Persian, Murrinhpatha, Pitjanjatjara, and Tagalog.
