Eva Tolasch is a Professor in the field of Qualitative Health Research and Intersectionality at the Fachbereich Gesundheitswissenschaften (Department of Health Sciences), Hochschule Fulda, a position she has held since February 2024. Her academic career spans multiple prestigious German universities, including Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, LMU Munich, and Universität Rostock. She contributes significantly to research on social inequality, gender, care practices, and embodiment through qualitative methodologies.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. (Dr. phil.) in Sociology, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2015)

Her research interests center on intersectional analyses of social inequality, with a focus on motherhood, fatness, care, gender, and institutional practices in health and education. She employs qualitative methods such as discourse analysis, ethnography, and expert interviews. Her current research project, DoSo, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), explores how care and diversity are documented and governed in higher education institutions.
Eva Tolasch has been actively involved in academic service, including editorial roles for the journal Soziale Probleme. Zeitschrift für soziale Probleme und soziale Kontrolle, and has served as a peer reviewer for numerous sociological and gender studies journals. She has also participated in DFG-funded research networks on Fat Studies and Ratgeben und Ratnehmen, and previously coordinated diversity initiatives at Universität Rostock. She is a member of the German Sociological Association (DGS), the Gender Society e.V., and other interdisciplinary networks.
Teaching and Mentoring: She teaches modules on qualitative health research and intersectionality. She has served as a mentor in the movement mentoring program at Universität Bielefeld and has held teaching roles at multiple universities, including Innsbruck, Göttingen, and Munich. She currently supervises academic staff, including Janet-Lynn Holz.
Laboratories and Research Teams: She is affiliated with interdisciplinary research teams and networks focusing on gender, diversity, and health. Her work is embedded in collaborative research environments, including the DFG networks and institutional research centers at Hochschule Fulda.
