Eva Pila serves as an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Western University, specializing in the Psychological Basis of Kinesiology field. She directs the Body Image & Health Lab where she conducts interdisciplinary research bridging psychosocial, psychophysiological, and community-based approaches.
Her research focuses on identifying psychosocial processes related to body image across diverse populations including community groups, athletes, and clinical populations (individuals with eating disorders, mood disorders, and breast cancer). She develops inclusive interventions targeting physical activity experiences and mental health outcomes through lab-based experiments, longitudinal observational studies, and naturalistic community approaches.
Professor Pila contributes to the academic community as an Editorial Board Member for Psychology of Sport and Exercise, Body Image: An International Journal of Research, and Sex Roles. Her work emphasizes equity and responsiveness to the needs of diverse-bodied individuals across the lifespan.
Her educational background includes a PhD and MSc from the University of Toronto and a BSc from McMaster University. She supervises graduate students in the Psychological Basis of Kinesiology MA and PhD programs.
