معرفی
Prof. Dr. Eva Pavarini is a University Professor at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, affiliated with the Peter Grünberg Institute (PGI), specifically the Theoretical Nanoelectronics (PGI-2) department. She leads the Strongly Correlated Electron Systems group, focusing on advanced computational methods to study quantum materials. Her work bridges theoretical physics and materials science, with strong ties to RWTH Aachen University, where she has taught courses such as Theoretical Solid State Physics and Computational Many-Body Physics.
Her research centers on strongly correlated electron systems, employing LDA+DMFT, Quantum Monte Carlo, and ab initio techniques to understand orbital ordering, Mott transitions, spin-orbit coupling, and magnetism in materials like ruthenates, iridates, and molecular nanomagnets. She has resolved key debates, such as the origin of orbital order, by showing the necessity of combining superexchange, Jahn-Teller effects, and Born-Mayer repulsion. Her group has developed advanced QMC solvers to handle complex Coulomb and spin-orbit interactions.
The recent publications highlight a consistent focus on multi-orbital physics, material-specific Hamiltonian construction, and electronic structure of 4d/5d transition metal oxides. Trends include the interplay of spin-orbit coupling and correlations, Fermi surface engineering, and the development of generalized methods applicable across material classes. Her work frequently appears in high-impact journals like Physical Review Letters and Science.
- Organizer, Autumn School on Correlated Electrons (since 2011)
- Developer of generalized CT-HYB and CT-INT QMC solvers
- Advisor to numerous PhD and postdoctoral researchers
- Extensive collaboration network across Europe
Prof. Pavarini has advised a significant number of doctoral students and postdocs, many of whom have gone on to academic and industrial research positions. She has secured long-term funding through her leadership roles and collaborative projects within the Helmholtz Association and European research networks. Her educational initiatives, particularly the Autumn School, have trained generations of young physicists in correlated electron physics.
She leads an active research group comprising current members such as Dr. Elaheh Adibi, Neda Samani, Dr. Xue-Jing Zhang, Dr. G. Zhang, Dr. Amit Chauhan, and Qiwei Li. The team focuses on diverse aspects of correlated systems, including LDA+DMFT calculations, model building, spin-orbit coupling, and correlated superconductivity.
