معرفی
Antia Sanchez Botana is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Arizona State University, Tempe campus, serving as Co-Director of Graduate Recruitment. Previously, she held postdoctoral fellowships at Argonne National Laboratory and the University of California, Davis. Her research employs electronic structure techniques for computational design of quantum materials, spanning superconductivity, frustrated magnetism, and nanostructure confinement effects.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Her work centers on theoretical and computational condensed matter physics, utilizing density functional theory (DFT) and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) to investigate strongly correlated electron systems. Key focus areas include oxide heterostructures, magnetic properties, phase transitions, spin-orbit coupling effects, and thermoelectricity in quantum materials.
Scientific Awards:
- NSF CAREER award
- Sloan Research Fellowship
Dr. Botana advises graduate students through dissertation supervision (PHY 799) and research courses (PHY 792), supported by competitive grants including her NSF CAREER award. She leads a research group specializing in fundamental physics of strongly correlated systems with emphasis on magnetism and superconductivity.
