Eva Mengelkoch

Eva Mengelkoch serves as Professor of Piano in the Department of Music at Towson University's College of Fine Arts and Communication. An internationally acclaimed performer on modern piano and fortepiano, her career spans solo recitals, chamber music, and accompaniment across North America, Central America, India, and Western/Central Europe with appearances at prestigious venues including Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields (London), Mendelssohn-Haus (Leipzig), and Liszt-Academy (Budapest).

• Indiana University (Master's and Doctorate; piano with Leonard Hokanson, fortepiano with Elisabeth Wright)

Professor Mengelkoch's research centers on Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy's vocal works, supported by a Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz fellowship. She specializes in Lieder performance practice and historical keyboard techniques, with scholarly focus on 19th-century German song repertoire. Her critical edition of A. Mendelssohn's Lieder is currently in preparation, building on her published research in Mendelssohn-Studien.

Her single documented scholarly publication examines Mendelssohn family dynamics through vocal compositions, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach combining performance practice with musicological analysis of historical contexts and textual relationships in German Lieder.

Professor Mengelkoch secures research funding through competitive fellowships and serves as an active clinician and adjudicator. She has presented masterclasses for the Music Teachers National Association, James Madison University, Trinity College Greenwich, and The Managua School of Music, while judging competitions including the Washington Steinway Competition and Enkor Competition.

She maintains strong performance ties with Pro Musica Rara as a guest artist and contributes to WBCJ's 91.5 Face the Music radio program, bridging academic research with public engagement through historical performance practice.
