معرفی
Professor Eva-Maria Joeressen is a distinguished faculty member at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, where she serves in the Peter Behrens School of Arts within the Department of Architecture & Design. Appointed as a full-time professor in 1998, she specializes in Perception and Design Theory, focusing on the fundamental aspects of spatial design work and its evaluation. Her academic career spans over three decades with significant contributions to both teaching and artistic practice.
Her research interests encompass a broad spectrum of design theory topics including perception, material studies, color theory, synesthesia, form, space, proxemics, light, and movement. Professor Joeressen emphasizes that design theory should form the basis of architecture that guarantees use rather than consumption, with use understood as intellectual engagement. She believes the living environment requires responsible 'images' that concern people, which cannot be produced through formalisms or individual myths alone.
Her extensive publication record reflects her expertise in transmedia installations, spatial design, and light art. The articles demonstrate a consistent focus on perception, spatial relationships, and the intersection of art with architectural environments. Her collaborative work with Klaus Kessner as 'joeressen+kessner' has produced numerous transmedia real-time installations that explore sensory perception through light and sound.
