Eva Löfgren holds the position of Senior Lecturer at the Department of Conservation, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She also serves as a member of the editorial board for Bebyggelsehistorisk Tidskrift (Journal of Building History). Her research focuses on rural public space, the use and meaning of the built environment, with a particular emphasis on religious heritage—specifically Swedish church buildings. Current projects include investigations into the transformation of the Church of Sweden into a national heritage and the management of church buildings in a changing society. She teaches courses in architectural history, heritage conservation, spatial theory, and research methodologies.
Her work is supported by grants from the Swedish Research Council and the National Heritage Board/Church of Sweden. Löfgren’s interdisciplinary approach bridges sociology, architecture, and cultural studies, addressing themes such as secularization’s impact on heritage practices and the spatial dynamics of public institutions like courts.
