Eva Gustavsson is a Senior Lecturer in Human Geography at Örebro University, affiliated with the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and the Department of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. She previously served as Program Manager for the Urban Planning Program until 2022. Her research focuses on sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and urban planning, particularly examining the social dimensions of sustainability in urban renewal projects.
Eva holds a doctoral degree in Human Geography from Örebro University (2008), where her dissertation explored climate change mitigation politics through a social science lens, emphasizing local-level governance. Her work has been funded by organizations such as Formas, the Delegation for Sustainable Cities, and ÖrebroBostäder AB.
Her research projects include evaluating social sustainability in urban development (e.g., the 'My Green Neighbourhood' initiative) and studying climate pilots in municipalities like Askersund and Laxå. These projects investigate household behavior change, public attitudes toward climate policies, and the interplay between local governance and global environmental challenges.
Eva actively contributes to research groups like 'Transformative Learning for Sustainable Development' and has published extensively in journals such as Environment and Planning C and Progress in Planning. Her work bridges theory and practice, offering insights into participatory planning, policy implementation, and the societal dimensions of environmental challenges.
