Eva Gonzales, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Saint Louis University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on plant evolutionary ecology, conservation biology, and genetic variation in native species critical to ecosystem services. She teaches courses including Principles of Biology II, Genetics Lab, Applied Population Genetics/Molecular Ecology, and Graduate Seminar.
Dr. Gonzales earned her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Georgia. Her work examines how evolutionary history and human-induced disturbances influence genetic diversity in economically and ecologically important plants. Recent studies include phylogeographic analyses of Trillium species, genetic impacts of landscape fragmentation on Guanacaste trees, and evolutionary dynamics of coastal species like Uniola paniculata.
Her publications explore topics such as fine-scale genetic structure, invasive species interactions, and glacial refugia identification. While no scientific awards are explicitly listed, her contributions to understanding plant conservation genetics and ecosystem resilience are evident through her research output.
