Eva Cadavid is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the Philosophy Program at Centre College. She joined the faculty in 2008 and was awarded the Centre Scholar distinction in 2019. Her academic background includes a B.A. in Philosophy and B.S. in Chemistry from Florida International University, followed by an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on Ancient Greek Philosophy, particularly Aristotle and Plato, with a dissertation exploring tensions in Aristotle’s philosophy of mathematics. She has also contributed to discussions on intellectual virtues, ethics, and undergraduate research in philosophy.

Her scholarly work includes a chapter in The Bright and the Good: the Connection Between Intellectual and Moral Virtues (2018) and numerous conference presentations on topics such as Plato’s ethics, Aristotle’s mathematical philosophy, and undergraduate research in philosophy. Fluent in Spanish and English, she also reads French and Ancient Greek.
