Eunsuk Hur is a Lecturer in Sustainable Fashion and Programme Leader of the BA Sustainable Fashion at the School of Design, University of Leeds. She holds a PhD in Sustainable Fashion from the University of Leeds and a Master's in Textile Futures from Central Saint Martins. Her research focuses on sustainable fashion, circular economy practices, strategic foresight, and cultural design. She leads the Fashion Marketing and Management research group and teaches modules such as Sustainable Fashion Strategy and Innovation.
Education: Master's in Textile Futures (Central Saint Martins), PhD in Sustainable Fashion (University of Leeds). Professional Experience: 8 years in the fashion industry prior to academia. Current roles include Programme Lead for BA Sustainable Fashion and Module Leader since 2013.
Research Interests: Sustainable Fashion, Circular Economy, Co-Creation, Fashion Psychology, Cultural Studies, Collaborative Consumption. She explores how community activities and social innovation drive sustainable lifestyles, leveraging technologies and policies for global impact. Her work also addresses cultural heritage rejuvenation and inclusive design practices for marginalized groups.
Key Research Outputs: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including work on co-creation toolkits, policy interventions for sustainable consumption, and cultural design frameworks. Recent projects include grants on collaborative consumption and social innovation in fashion.
Awards and Grants: Multiple grants including ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (2021–2022), Ignite 9 Fund (2019), and a 3-year PhD scholarship (2009–2012). Recognitions include Best Paper Award (2016) and design awards such as Sunmi Design Contest (2000).
Advising & Grants: Supervises postgraduate researchers Jun Pyun, Jianan Hu, Chunlu Zhang, and Laurie Corbel. Leads projects like Rebirth Fashion and collaborates with non-profits and SMEs on sustainable practices.
Labs/Teams: Research Group Leader in Fashion Marketing and Management (2021–2024). Engages in interdisciplinary initiatives such as the Cultural Institute's projects and workshops on sustainable design education.
