Dr. Eunice Goes is a Professor of Politics at Richmond University, affiliated with the School of Communications, Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Social Sciences & Humanities. She holds a DPhil in Politics from the London School of Economics (2002), an MA from the University of Warwick (1997), and a BA from Lusíada University (1994). Her research focuses on British party politics, Europe-Britain relations, political ideologies, and social democracy. She is currently completing a monograph on European social democracy's history (forthcoming 2024) and has authored multiple books and articles, including the award-winning 2021 article on Labour Party ideological renewal. She teaches courses on British Politics, International Relations, and Political Science.
Her research explores how political ideas shape policy-making, with a focus on Labour Party evolution, European integration, and ideological renewal. Recent work includes analysis of Keir Starmer’s leadership and Brexit’s political impacts. She collaborates with the Federation of European Progressive Studies and edits Renewal: A Journal of Social Democracy. Awards include the Michael Freeden Prize (2022). Her pedagogical focus emphasizes critical thinking through innovative assessments. She contributes to academic blogs and appears on BBC programs like Dateline London and Weekend.
