Eung Seok Lee is an Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Geological Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University. His research focuses on hydrogeology, particularly in contaminant transport, environmental isotope applications, and carbonate-rock aquifer systems.

Dr. Lee's research interests span hydrogeology, contaminant hydrogeology, environmental isotope hydrology, and carbonate-rock hydrogeology. He investigates groundwater contamination, restoration technologies, and subsurface geochemical processes, especially in karst terrains. His work integrates modeling, field studies, and innovative remediation methods such as controlled-release oxidants and novel adsorption materials.
His recent publications reveal a strong focus on groundwater remediation, chemical oxidation (particularly permanganate), controlled-release systems, and isotope-based hydrological tracing. These studies span environmental chemistry, hydrogeological modeling, and biogeochemical processes, reflecting an interdisciplinary approach to solving complex groundwater issues.

Dr. Lee has advised several graduate students, including Thomas E. Antonacci, Pamela R. Olson, and Siying Sun, on topics related to groundwater modeling and remediation. He is an active member of the American Geophysical Union and the Geological Society of America.
He teaches courses such as GEOL 2310: Water and Pollution, GEOL 4/5800: Principles of Hydrogeology, and GEOL 4/5810: Groundwater Flow Modeling, contributing significantly to geoscience education at Ohio University.
