معرفی
Eulalia Genesca Ferrer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Girona since February 2023. She leads the T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL) research team at the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), focusing on translational research to improve outcomes for adult T-ALL patients through genomic characterization and therapeutic innovation.
Her research centers on adult T-ALL, a rare genetically heterogeneous cancer affecting less than 1 adult per 100,000 population. Using genomic techniques (SNPa, TDS, OGM, NGS), she develops precision medicine approaches to refine risk stratification within PETHEMA protocols and overcome therapy resistance. Her work bridges basic science and clinical application to transform genomic knowledge into personalized treatments for this challenging malignancy.
As Principal Investigator, she has secured major competitive funding:
- €3.3M international project (KWF/ARC/AECC; 2024-2028) as Spanish coordinator
- €324,000 Deutsche Jose Carreras grant (2023-2025) as Co-PI
- €244,000 ISCIII national grant (2023-2025)
- €123,000 ISCIII grant (2020-2022 extended to 2024)
- €1.1M AECC grant (2017-2023 extension)
Her team comprises two PhD students, two technicians, and a bioinformatician. She holds leadership roles in PETHEMA ALL biological committee, EWALL European network, and Catalan precision oncology committee, enabling access to critical clinical data and samples for rare cancer research.
