Eugene Ozhinsky, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), School of Medicine. He serves as Technical Director for Focused Ultrasound at the Department and conducts research at the VA Advanced Imaging Research Center (VAARC), part of the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
Dr. Ozhinsky's primary research interests focus on machine learning applications for musculoskeletal imaging and MR-guided focused ultrasound therapy. His work at VAARC involves developing and implementing machine learning techniques for automated image processing, analysis, and prescription of musculoskeletal X-ray, MRI, PET, and CT images to improve care for VA patients through precise diagnostics and prediction of disease progression. His current research specifically targets safely opening the blood-brain barrier to enable therapeutic delivery to the brain.
Dr. Ozhinsky's publication record demonstrates significant contributions to medical imaging, particularly in MR thermometry, machine learning applications in radiology, and focused ultrasound technology. His recent work shows increasing emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence with medical imaging for improved diagnostic capabilities and treatment planning, with notable publications spanning neuroimaging, musculoskeletal applications, and thermal therapy techniques.
