Eugen Wenzel

Eugen Wenzel is a Researcher at the Department of Modern German and Comparative Literature at Chemnitz University of Technology, affiliated with the Faculty of Philosophy since April 2023. He completed his habilitation in 2021 with the thesis Stalingrad in German and Russian-Language Literatures, aiming to earn the venia legendi for Modern German and Comparative Literature and German Didactics. His academic career includes adjunct lecturer roles at TU Chemnitz (2022–2023), Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf (2021–2022), and earlier teaching positions at Gymnasiums and universities.

His recent publications analyze Stalingrad's representation in German and Russian literature, gender relations, heroism, and historical trauma.

Scientific Awards include long-term scholarships from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. (2004–2009, 2010–2013) and the International Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation (2005).

Advising and Grants involve mentoring student projects and contributing to literary conferences. His Stalingrad research has been featured in international conferences and journals.
