Eugen Dimant

Eugen Dimant is an Associate Professor of Practice in Behavioral and Decision Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in the School of Arts & Sciences. He also holds visiting roles at Stanford University and the Hoover Institution. His research focuses on behavioral ethics, crime, corruption, migration, and social norms, employing experimental methods to explore how norms shape pro- and anti-social behavior.

Dimant earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paderborn (summa cum laude), where he was awarded the Best Experimental Dissertation and Best Dissertation prizes. His work has been published in top journals like Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Management Science, and The Economic Journal.

Key research areas include the contagion of social behavior, the impact of U.S. military aid on terrorism, and the role of political polarization in shaping social preferences. He has received grants from institutions like the NSF and the Institute for Humane Studies.
