معرفی
Ettore Francesco Bompard is a Full Professor at the Department of Energy (DENERG), Polytechnic University of Turin, where he conducts research and teaches in electrical power systems, smart grids, and energy transition. He serves as Scientific Advisor for the Partnership Agreement with ENEL and leads multiple research initiatives. His affiliations include the GUSEE and LAME research groups within DENERG, and he holds leadership roles in EU-funded projects such as NEST, DATA CELLAR, and Let’sGOv. He is also Scientific Director of the joint center for Energy Transition Modeling and Simulation between Politecnico di Torino and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
His research focuses on electrical power systems, energy economics, smart grids, and sustainable energy transitions, with particular emphasis on Mediterranean energy dynamics, electricity market design, urban energy resilience, and digital simulation tools. He integrates technical, economic, and geopolitical dimensions to support science-based policy decisions. His work contributes to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action), addressing challenges in renewable integration, energy storage, and grid modernization.
The recent publications reflect a strong trend in energy transition modeling, electricity market reconfiguration, smart grid integration, and policy support tools. His work combines simulation, real-time testing, and multi-criteria analysis to assess energy systems at local and regional scales, particularly in the Mediterranean. He develops platforms like ENEMED-Plat and RES-Plat to support decision-making for energy communities and renewable planning.
His scientific recognitions include:
- 2020 MIT A+B Applied Energy Symposium - Best Paper Award
- Fellow, Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE), 2019–present
He is a member of the editorial board of Energy Informatics and has led numerous competitive research grants from EU programs (H2020, PNRR, EIT), private foundations, and commercial contracts. He supervises a diverse group of PhD students across electrical engineering, energy, and architecture disciplines, guiding research on topics such as energy storage, market design, and urban energy systems. He also contributes to non-commercial agreements with municipalities (e.g., Turin, Bari) on climate contracts and sustainable transition strategies.
Bompard leads or participates in key research laboratories and collaborative networks, including the ENET-RT real-time co-simulation lab and the joint center with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His work emphasizes glocal (global-local) energy transition, combining local energy communities with global simulation frameworks.
