Etienne Pariat

Etienne Pariat is a CNRS Research Fellow at the Plasma Physics Laboratory (UMR 7648), affiliated with both École Polytechnique and Sorbonne University. He leads the 'Spatial Plasma' team at LPP and has held roles such as Scientific Manager of the 'Space Plasma' team, Treasurer/Vice-President of the European Solar Physics Division (ESPD), and Coordinator of the Solar Physics Center at LESIA. His work bridges theoretical magnetohydrodynamics, numerical experiments, and observational data analysis.

Education: PhD completed in 2006, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in the USA (NASA GSFC, Naval Research Center, George Masson University) from 2006–2009. He has been in French public research since 2009.

Research focuses on solar magnetism, solar activity, flares, and coronal mass ejections. He employs computational modeling and observational techniques like imaging, spectroscopy, and spectropolarimetry. His work contributes to understanding solar eruptions and their impact on space weather.

Advising and grants: Supervised 4 PhD theses and 2 post-doctoral researchers, alongside numerous undergraduate/master's internships. His grants support solar physics research and international collaborations through ESPD and LESIA.

Labs/teams: Currently with the Space Plasmas team at LPP. Previously coordinated the Solar Physics Pole at LESIA (2013–2021).
