Etelka Chung

Dr. Etelka Chung is a Researcher at the Wolfson Centre for Biodetection and Instrumentation Research within the School of Physics, Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire, applying biomedical sciences and material sciences to innovate aerosol collection and biodetection methods.

She pioneers less invasive aerosol collection techniques using dielectrophoretic actuation of polystyrene particles and suspended liquid films, while investigating plant-extract-synthesized silver nanoparticles for antimicrobial applications to protect ecological and human health.

Her 2024-2025 publications reveal a dual research trajectory: advancing aerosol science through liquid-film-based collection systems and dielectrophoretic microsphere manipulation, alongside nanomaterial studies focusing on green-synthesized silver nanoparticles and their antimicrobial efficacy.

As an active collaborator at the Wolfson Centre, she works with Munro, Johnston, and Coudron on interdisciplinary engineering-biomedical projects, with ongoing research indicating future focus on scalable biodetection technologies and nanoparticle-enhanced bioaerosol monitoring systems.
