Esra Karpuz is a Lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dokuz Eylül University. She holds a PhD in Finance from Anadolu University (2024), preceded by a Master's in Finance (2021) and a Bachelor's in Business Administration (2017), both from Anadolu University. She has been a Research Assistant at Kütahya Dumlupınar University since 2020. Her research focuses on financial markets, political risk analysis, macroeconomic indicators, cryptocurrency, and sustainable development in emerging economies.
Her work explores the impact of political events (elections, natural disasters) on financial systems, the relationship between financial development and human development, and pandemic effects on stock markets. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Management, Economics, Literature, Islamic and Political Sciences and Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Journal of Social Sciences Institute.
Karpuz has presented research at prominent conferences like the 25th Finance Symposium (2022) and authored/co-authored books on topics ranging from cryptocurrency to corporate social responsibility. Her current research emphasizes asymmetric volatility structures in international markets and crisis impact modeling.
