Esma Mihlayanlar

Esma Mihlayanlar is a Professor at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Trakya University. Her research focuses on energy efficiency, thermal performance of buildings, sustainable architectural practices, and conservation of historical structures. She has advised multiple master's and doctoral theses on topics such as passive design strategies, renewable energy integration, and building envelope optimization.

Education: B.Sc (1992), M.Sc (1996), Ph.D (2005). She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with notable works on thermal bridge analysis, historical building preservation, and sustainable project delivery systems. Her recent projects include studies on energy renovation of boutique hotels and seismic performance of contemporary buildings.

Her research spans interdisciplinary areas including material science, environmental engineering, and architectural design. She has organized national conferences and serves as an editor for the Trakya Mimarlık ve Tasarım Dergisi. Current research interests include agricultural waste-derived insulation materials and bio-mimetic design principles.
