Erol Girt is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Simon Fraser University (SFU). His research focuses on magnetic materials, thin-film magnetism, spintronics, and nanodevice fabrication. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Sarajevo, and a Ph.D. from McGill University.
His academic roles include teaching courses such as PHYS 201 D100: Physics Undergraduate Seminar and PHYS 432 D100: Undergraduate Honours Thesis in Fall 2025. His research group, the Physics of Nanomagnetic Materials and Devices Lab, explores topics like magnetic sensors, memory devices, and novel semiconductor structures.
