معرفی
Dr. Ernst-Werner Hoffmann is a researcher specializing in Hydrogeology at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He is affiliated with the Chair of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (LIH), located at Lochnerstraße 4-20 in Aachen, where he contributes to both teaching and research activities.
His primary research interests include hydrogeology, groundwater resource assessment and protection, numerical modeling of groundwater systems, and the intersection of hydrogeology with rock mechanics and natural hazards. His work addresses practical challenges in environmental and engineering geology, such as slope stability in permafrost regions, geothermal energy systems, and large-scale infrastructure projects like the Einstein Telescope.
Dr. Hoffmann is actively involved in multiple high-profile research projects, including the ERC-Synergy Grant FEAR (Fault Activation and Earthquake Rupture), Project SIEGFRIED, and the Engineer-geological feasibility study for the Einstein Telescope in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine. These projects demonstrate his expertise in applying hydrogeological and geomechanical principles to real-world problems.
As a member of the Hydrogeology group within the LIH, he collaborates on international research efforts spanning from the permafrost-affected rock slopes in the Canton of Glarus, Switzerland, to Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska, contributing to the understanding of geological processes in diverse environments.
